Method to prevent users from loosing text which is description field when selecting a template

Hi Issue Template Team,
one of our users made the following experience:- He first filled the issues description field
- Afterward he selected a template
- The template replaces everything he entered in the description field
I know that it would make much more sense to first selected the templated, but i think it would be anyway nice to prevent the users from loosing their work.
So I would like to see the following improvement:
- If the description field allready contains some text, then before replacing the text with the template data the users get's a PopUp which informs him and gives him the option to abort
- OR The template date is "simply" inserted before or after the text that is allready in the field.
