get only an empty issue list

I get only the header and an empty issue list if I add for instance
{{ref_issues}}
or
{{ref_issues(-p=testproject)}}
My installation:
Environment:
Redmine version 2.4.3.stable
Ruby version 1.9.3-p484 (2013-11-22) [x86_64-linux]
Rails version 3.2.16

What could be the problem?

Ups, the wiki list tags are also parsed and executed in the issue text - what happened when I add these tags into my wiki text - I see only the first heading row (#, project, tracker, ...) but no issue rows. The same, if I select a project - which brings of course an error in the issue text above, because you don't have a project called "testproject". :-)

By default, ref_issues query the ticket that containing a string of Wiki title.
You can create and specify custom query if you want to filter.
